I understand the situation you're in. It's really a pain in the ass to feel obliged to take responsibility for yourself. Try not to face it as a homework but as a challenge that once overcome will make you into another person. It will, believe me.
I'm a bit lazy about giving you a summary of what's been happening lately but I think we can talk about these changes when you have some time. I hope you're enjoying your work. I hardly ever do.
As for what I said to the cappuccino-friend, I can't remember. It must have been something about the way people come and stay in our lives. And the way such things seem to be completely out of our control. "Isn't it a shame?", I would have said.

Besides, there's a lot of singing but no one to hear.
